Privacy policy
Last updated 25 October 2026.
Olancers is built to keep personal details private. This policy explains what we collect and why. Olancers is a product of Searlco LTD, which is the data controller.
What we collect
- Account details: name, email, country, time zone and password (stored as a secure hash).
- Profile and job content you add, applications and messages.
- Payment records. Card details are handled by Stripe; we only store the card brand and last four digits.
- Basic technical data for security and fraud prevention. We keep a scrambled (one-way hashed) version of your IP address, not the address itself, to spot duplicate accounts and people referring themselves through the affiliate programme.
- If you're an affiliate: your payout details (PayPal email or bank details) and the referrals and commission linked to your account.
What other users see
Freelancers are shown by first name and last initial. Emails and phone numbers are never shown, and contact details can't be shared in profiles, jobs or applications. Once a company invites a freelancer to interview, each can see the other's full profile and the contact details they have added there.
How we use it
To run the marketplace, take payments, send the notifications you choose, prevent fraud and meet legal obligations. We don't sell personal data.
Cookies and affiliate partners
We use cookies that are needed to keep you signed in and secure. With your permission, we also use cookies from affiliate partners (such as networks that send visitors to us) so they can see when someone they referred signs up or pays. If someone arrives through an Olancers affiliate link, we also record the visit against a scrambled version of their IP address, so the referral still counts if they sign up later without the cookie. You can accept or decline cookies when you first visit, and change your mind at any time with the "Cookie settings" link at the bottom of every page.
Who we share it with
Stripe (payments), our email delivery provider, our hosting provider and, if you accept affiliate cookies, the affiliate network that referred you (an order reference and amount only), only as needed to run the service.
Your rights
You can access, correct or delete your data, or object to how we use it, by contacting support@olancers.com. You can turn off non-essential emails in Settings.
